The library collection consists of a large collection of books, magazines, annual reports and other published documents from and about Rotterdam and the surrounding region.
The municipal archive’s
‘Rotterdam collection’ is the largest known collection of books, magazines,
annual reports and other documents from and about Rotterdam.
What is more, we have a large collection of books and magazines that do not immediately appear to relate to Rotterdam but that place the city in a broader context. Such items include books about history, history of economics and art, etc. A number of electronic documents have also been collected and made available.
The collection is freely accessible but may only be viewed in the reading room of the Municipal Archive as it may not be lent out. In total, the library holds around 60,000 volumes and around 4000 magazine titles.
Websites also form part of the collection of the Municipal Archive. These are stored in the e-Depot and they can also be viewed in the reading room via the municipal archive intranet. However, due to potential copyright issues, the archived websites do not appear on the website.
Searching through the catalogue is only possible in the Dutch language.
